Who we are

Who we are

Resilience Environmental Agro-Forestation Foundation (REAF) is a non-governmental, non-profit making organization established in 1997 with the initiative of like-minded professionals, and technocrats of Somali origin living abroad and back in the Country. It was founded as a result of comprehensive brainstorming in finding a vehicle in form of an organization to be the springboard for formulating policies and identifying problems then drafting action plans and activities to provide interventions in the myriad problems and challenges facing the communities back home. A deep insight into Somalia and its other Federal States paints an undesired image with so many problems that should be in focus including food security, social conflicts, youth and women unemployment, gender equality, lack of education, human rights, FGM, water issues, and draught among others.

Somalia for example is experiencing more pressure caused by the civil war, which lasted for a period of slightly over a decade. This caused deaths, destruction of property, displacement of people and severe suffering of the women and children. Currently, the situation of stability is gradually getting better thanks to the formation of the Somali Federal Government with the help of concerned partners and AMISOM. However, there are more challenges now caused by returnees, IDPs, and refugees who are flocking back in a scramble for the already scarce resources. Despite the navigated steps by the Somali Federal Government to work around all these problems, the impact is barely at a quarter percent of the expectations due to inappropriate policies and inadequate resources.

Our Mission

To do our best as an organization by possible and measurable means of capacity building to improve the skills of the youth, empower women, help the vulnerable groups and the communities of Somalia and its other Federal states like Puntland, Juba land, Somaliland among others in realizing their living standards are improved.

our vision

To be an envied foundation that excels in changing the livelihood and living standards of the Somali people and its other States by running intervention programs that are particular to the problem collectively and transparently.
